Buhari Hosts Emefiele In Presidential Villa Amid Leaked Audio Tape Scandal

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday played host to the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, at the Presidential villa Abuja amidst a leaked audio tape scandal rocking the apex bank.

BIGPEN ONLINE reports that although the Central Bank has since denied the allegations that the discussions in the wiretapped conversation were plot to cover up a N500 billion business deal which went awry which was first reported by Sahara Reporters, it was not clear what the meeting between President Buhari and Emefiele was all about.

No official statement has been released about their meeting but, in the photography circulating on the internet after the meeting, President Buhari and Emefiele were seen shaking hands and smiling in the President’s office.

Reports say Buhari was said to have ccngratulated Emefiele on his reappointment.

Emefiele Monday’s visit to the presidential villa was the first since he was nominated for another term in office by the President.

President Buhari had last week sent a letter to the Senate seeking the confirmation of the reappointment of Emefiele for another term of five years as CBN governor.
