Unknown Gunmen Kill Retired Police Officer In Ebonyi

South East Deputy National President, Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria ( OMPAN), Chukwu Ogbu, a senior editor with Ebonyi Daily and Igbere TV, says unknown gunmen suspected to be hired assassins reportedly killed his retired police officer’s father on Saturday night.

Ogbu told newsmen that his father who served 35yrs in the Nigeria Police was murdered in cold blood by the assailants who shot him in his residence in Ivo local government area of Ebonyi state and ensured he died before fleeing the vicinity.

Speaking over the ugly incident, Ogbu said, “My dad has been assassinated by unknown Assailants. He was shot and left in the pool of his own blood. An innocent man who served 35yrs in the Nigeria Police & retired, they murdered him in cold blood.

“My mum was there, they lied both face down, bring my dad up and said ‘Papa We Need You’ , and shot him, touched his heart and confirmed him dead and left without touching anything even his phone.

“My pregnant wife traumatized and unconscious after witnessing it. This is too much for a man to bear in a single night”.

According to a statement by Igbere TV, “The Management and Staff of Igbere TV are currently in tears over the incident and urge the security agencies to investigate the killing and arrest the criminals. We pray that God will give the family the fortitude to bear the lost”.
