PHOTOS: Sample Of Voting Procedure, As Delta REC Expresses Commitment To Credible Polls
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in Delta state, Dr Cyril Omorogbe has said INEC was committed to transparency, credibility, and impartiality in the discharge of its mandate in the forthcoming general elections.
Omorogbe spoke on Wednesday while briefing newsmen in Asaba, the state capital on preparation of INEC for the smooth conduct of the rescheduled presidential and national assembly elections.
He said that the commission in compliance with timeline of activities for new dates of polls, has commenced the reconfiguration of 5,823 Smart Card Readers (SCRs) and 5% of 5,823 as back up to input the new date of the election.
Allaying fear that some voting materials must have found their way to wrong hands, the INEC’s REC said that no single sensitive electoral materials had been deployed to the field before the postponement was announced.
According to him, all state office of INEC were to take delivery of sensitive materials for onward delivery to the LGAs, RACs and the polling units on election day from CBN when the postponement came.
He said that since the postponement, key officials of the commission have since relocated to the CBN to carry out other task that would culminate in the onward movement of personnel and materials to the field on Saturday February 23.
