Jubilation As Joel-Onowakpo Emerges APC House of Reps Candidate

The Primary election of the immediate past Chairman, Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, (DBIR), Mr. Joel-Onowakpo Thomas as All Progressives Congress, (APC), House of Representatives candidate, for Isoko Federal Constituency in the 2019 general elections has triggered wide celebration in Isoko Councils Area of Delta State.

The election, which was held inside the civic centre in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Council, saw Onowakpo polling 530 votes to defeat his main challenger, Mr Elias Oversuo who got 41 votes and Mr. Eddy Macaulay who scored 21 votes.

Accreditation of delegates began early enough but voting was delayed following the late arrival of officials of the retired Gen. Laurence Onoja-led Delta state primary election panel, which commence the exercise around 4:25pm and lasted for over ten hours.

Immediately the voting started, delegates who were accredited into the hall were asked to leave the hall immediately after they cast their votes. Their delegates tags were collected from them immediately after voting and were led outside the hall leaving the agents and aspirants to watch over the ballot boxes manned by security agencies.

The aspirants were not allowed to leave the hall while the voting, sorting and collating lasted.

At the end of the exercise, retired Gen. Laurence Onoja-led Delta state primary election panel, declared Onowakpo winner after he scored the highest vote cast.

BigPen Online reports that before the final announcement of the result some APC faithful were seen jubilating on the streets of Oleh shouting “JOT is a goal”.

In his acceptance speech, Onowakpo thanked all the delegates and APC faithful for the confidence reposed in him, adding that his victory at the primary was a stepping stone to the emancipation of the Isoko federal constituency.

The APC candidate who enjoys so much goodwill among his people, however promised the electorates of Isoko federal constituency a robust representation and enjoined them to vote APC in all the 2019 general elections.

“I want to sincerely thank you the delegates, our party faithful for the confidence reposed in me. Glory be to the almighty God. I am so very happy for the love shown me. I want to say I shall not disappoint you people. This is a new dawn in Isoko federal constituency.

“The emancipation of our father’s land is now and I enjoin everyone of you to give your full supports and votes for APC in all the elections come 2019. I promise to give you my people a better representation at the national Assembly by his grace”, Onowakpo enthused.

The Isoko Federal Constituency primary election adjudged as free, fair and orderly by the Onoja-led Delta state primary election panel is among the ones held in the state without a parallel.
