Brittania-U’s CEO Appeals To Residents Of Ogulagha To Sheath Their Sword

The chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brittania-U Nigeria Limited, Mrs Catherine Uju Ifejika has appealed to residents of Ogulagha community to sheath their swords and maintain peace in the community.

Mrs Ifejika made the call in a telephone  conversation with BigPen Online after her concerted efforts to reach out to the warring factions in the oil producing community.

According to her, an appeal has been made to those spear heading the crisis to allow peace to reign, saying “we are talking to them, and appealing for calm”.

She said that the contending issue causing the crisis, though didn’t concern Brittania-U,  she has to wade in by appealing to the arrow heads so that oil companies in the Kingdom can continue carrying out their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes for the people peacefully.

According to her, “our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) philosophy is founded on the principle that “individually, we are one drop but together we are an ocean” so where there’s a crisis situation in our area of operation, we must wade in and preach the togetherness that’s our policy thrust”, she added.

Brittania-U Nigeria which oversees the operations of the Group in Nigeria and the Upstream (Exploration & Production) activities of the company, operates major assets in Ogulagha and other parts of the Niger Delta such as the CNL Ajapa Marginal Field (OML 90) and the Ajapa-1 SDTR2 and Tripod/Wellhead, including the FPSO –Brittania-U I.

Recalls that crisis erupted in Ogulagha few months ago following the death of the former chairman of the community and the one billion naira oil largesses from Shell which threw the Kingdom into turmoil with a section of the people disowning their traditional ruler.
