Delta State Government has declared a three-day mourning period in honour of former Governor, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, who died in the early hours of Monday, October 19, 2026.

Uduaghan, who governed Delta State from 2007 to 2015, died at the age of 71, three days to his 72nd birthday.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has directed that all flags on public buildings across the state be flown at half-mast throughout the mourning period.

The directive was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu.

The state government said the declaration was in recognition of Uduaghan’s contributions to the development of the state during his years in public service as Commissioner for Health, Secretary to State Government and two-term governor.

Uduaghan was born on October 22, 1954.
