Oborevwori Mourns Uduaghan, Says He Was A Detribalised Leader

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has mourned the death of former Governor Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, describing him as a detribalised leader whose contributions to Delta State would not be forgotten.
Uduaghan died on Monday morning, October 19, 2026, at the age of 71, in a hospital in Abuja after a period of illness, according to a statement issued by his family.
In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Oborevwori sympathised with the late governor’s wife, Roli Uduaghan, his children, the entire Uduaghan family, the Itsekiri nation and Deltans.
The governor recalled Uduaghan’s years in office, noting that he made significant contributions to infrastructure development and looked beyond ethnic differences to work for the overall development of Delta.
Uduaghan served as Commissioner for Health from 1999 to 2003 and Secretary to the State Government from 2003 to 2007 before becoming Governor in May 2007. He served two terms and left office in 2015.
Oborevwori said Uduaghan’s years in public service left a good mark on the state, adding that his death was a loss to Delta and Nigeria at large.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and asked God to comfort his wife, children and all those grieving.
