Delta 2019: More Political Groups Back Ofehe Governorship Ambition

The Governorship ambition of Niger Delta activist, Comrade Sunny Ofehe got a boost over the weekend as various political groups have pledged to work for the realisation of his vision for the people of Delta state.

This is coming as the group, Progressive Alliance for Good Governance and Democracy, (PAGGD), on Sunday threw its weight behind the front line All Progressive Congress, APC governorship aspirant in the state.

In a statement on Sunday by National Coordinator of the group, Mr. Davies Okinawa, the group said that Ofehe’s endorsement was borne out of his pedigree and antecedents in the Niger Delta region.

“We have decided to embrace the Comrade Sunny Ofehe’s vision and aspirations because he is pragmatic, focus and a goal getter. His activities over the years in the Niger Delta are enough reasons to support him. We have followed his activities over the years and we know he is driven by passion to serve as he has always done.

“As a progressive group on the vanguard of good governance and democracy, we are inspired by the Ofehe’s vision to take Delta State from the shackles of poverty in the face of plenty and place it in the pedestal where we ought to be”.

The group said that the solution to the underdevelopment of Delta state by PDP-led government lies with Ofehe who governorship bid have received massive boost from various groups and ethnic nationalities in the State.

In the same vein, a non partisan group, Unity Pressure Group Ughelli has declared their unflinching support for Ofehe.

Chairman of group, Hon Akise Johwo stated this while playing host to the APC aspirant during its enlarge meeting in Ughelli.

He said that Ofehe is a household name in Ughelli town and have proven himself as someone to be trusted with the mandate.

“We think you are the best person we can align with. There is no one in Ughelli that doesn’t know Ofehe’s family. We believe it is better we work with the person we know than those we don’t have alliance with. I make bold to say we are behind you, day and night”.

In his response, Comrade Ofehe said he was not in the race because he has so much money to throw around or influence but was driven by passion to add value to the state.

He promised to use his vast experience garnered over the years in Europe to attract people oriented projects to all part of the state, pointing out that the advancement of European country is not a rocket science but the passion of European politicians.

“Let your support for me be borne out of passion and vision. Let’s not follow the style of some politician who come around to see the electorate when it is election time.

“I am a young man who does not forget the days of little beginning and I can assure you that you will not regret supporting me.

“I’m going to be because we are and you are going to be because I am so together we can fix Delta state. I may not have the kind of money the money bags who have corrupted the political system have but what I have, they don’t have and I can assure you I will never disappoint you”.

In a related development, the Iyase (Traditional Prime Minister) of Benin Kingdom, Chief Sam Igbe has declared his support for the governorship ambition of Ofehe, saying “I will support the vision of my son”.

Igbe, who is maternally from Oghara, Delta state stated this at his residence in Benin, Edo state capital while playing host to Ofehe whose mother is a Benin.

The prominent Benin Chief who autographed three of his books for Ofehe said that though he is not a politician, he will always support and pray for the success of a son.
