Ofehe Named VP Environmental Sustainability and European Relations by Africa CEO Club

Nigerian‑Dutch environmental rights activist and diplomatic consultant whose work focuses on Nigeria, Comrade Sunny Ofehe, has been named vice president, environmental sustainability, and European relations by the leadership and board of the Africa CEO Club.

Africa CEO Club announced the appointment in a statement signed by its president, Dr. Fatoumatta Gaye, and made available to newsmen, on Wednesday.

The appointment takes immediate effect.

The Africa CEO Club, is a prestigious pan-African platform designed to connect visionary CEOs, executives, founders, entrepreneurs, investors, and influential change-makers from across Africa and the global diaspora.

The statement reads, “On behalf of the leadership and Board of the Africa CEO Club, I am pleased to formally convey your appointment as Vice President, Environmental Sustainability & European Relations.

“Your remarkable leadership as a global environmental advocate, diaspora influencer, and policy voice for Africa’s development has inspired transformation across borders. Your vast experience in sustainable development, international diplomacy, and civic engagement, particularly through your work in the Netherlands and across Europe, aligns seamlessly with our mission to redefine African leadership through innovation, inclusivity, and global collaboration.

“In this role, you will provide strategic leadership in advancing the Club’s environmental and sustainability agenda, while strengthening partnerships between Africa and Europe. You will also champion initiatives that foster responsible leadership, environmental stewardship, and cross-continental economic engagement among CEOs, policymakers, and development partners.

“Your appointment takes immediate effect. We are confident that your influence and expertise will help position the Africa CEO Club as a continental thought leader and a trusted partner in Africa’s sustainable transformation.

“We warmly welcome you to the leadership of the Africa CEO Club and look forward to working closely with you.”

Ofehe, the CEO of Nigerian-Netherlands based Hope for Niger Delta Campaign (HNDC), is known for his advocacy for minority rights, particularly in Nigeria’s oil-rich Niger Delta region.

Since 2011, he has regularly addressed the United Nations Forum on Minority Issues in Geneva, advocating for the rights of Niger Delta minorities. He has also participated in events organized by the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO), the Italian Senate and engaged with the European Parliament, European Council, and European Commission.

Additionally, Ofehe has been a prominent speaker at international forums such as the International World Water Day and the Inter Eco Forum Conference in Spain. In 2021, he collaborated with former Dutch MP Harry van Bommel to organize training for Nigerian Senate Committee members in the Netherlands.
