The activist who stormed the community Monday evening with a large entourage, was received by mammoth crowd of his kinsmen including elders, women and youths at the compound of an APC Chieftain in the state, Chief Ono Ideh.

Ofehe said that his decision to join the race for the 2019 governorship election after much consultations was borne out of his passion and conviction that he was the right person to bridge the gap between good governance and the people of the state.

The Delta-born Netherlands-based activist who has been at the forefront of Niger Delta struggle for development at the international level, said he will be a good servant to return the state to the path of glory and harness the latent potentials of the state for the benefit of the people.

Ofehe said that within four years of his tenure, he will ensure Delta State is placed on the World map with people- oriented projects that would drive investors to the state.

Ofehe said before joining the race, he  moved round the state to feel the pulse of the people and he consulted leaders on the major problem of Delta state, expressing optimism that he will ensure the peoples’ collective yearning to bring about purposeful leadership that would impact them positively is brought to bear within four years.

“Today I have decided to bring my  experience back home. Within four year I will put Delta State in the world map. I will do that with your support and if I don’t do it, don’t accord me this rousing welcome next time. I will do what many have not done before. I will bring my experience to bear, my relationship with foreign organizations over the years will be brought to bear and I want to assure you that I will remain a good servant to you”.

Earlier, leader of APC in Iyede, Chief Ono Ideh who received Ofehe amidst tumultuous crowd, expressed joy that a son of the soil had mustered courage to join the governorship election in the state come 2019.

According to him, the expression of joy by the people of the area was borne out of the fact that it was the first time an illustrious son of the soil was venturing to take a shot at governorship position in the state, saying that all Iyede have gotten over the years is councillorship and Chairmanship positions.
