Senator David Mark Slams EFCC Over Unfounded Allegations Against Him

Former Senate President, Senator David Mark has slammed the Economic and Financial crime commission (EFCC) over allegations of fraud levelled against him by the commission, describing them as unfounded and senseless.

According to a statement made available to BigPen Online on Monday, Senator David Mark confirmed being invited by the anti-graft agency and was asked questions relating to the 2015 campaign finance for his political activities in his home state of Benue.

However, according to the statement signed by his media aide, Paul Mumeh, he was particularly baffled about another question that bothered on alleged bribery of all senate members in 2010.

He said they alleged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) paid over N2billion into a bank account run by the National Assembly during his days as the senate president and that the same money was shared among the 109 senators in 2010.

“Again to the best of his knowledge, Sen. Mark is not aware of such transaction. This did not simply make sense to any right thinking member of the society.

Sen. Mark wondered why anybody would think that PDP will pay money into the National Assembly account.

He however clarified all the issues raised before returning home” Mr Mumeh said in the statement.

The EFCC has refused to comment on the matter.

The 2015 campaign finance by the PDP has been a subject of intense interrogation by law enforcement agencies.
