EXCLUSIVE: Land Grabbers Vandalise Warri Itakpe Train Line In Delta

Suspected land grabbers have vandalized a section of the Warri-Itakpe train line in Delta state, BigPen Online can report.

Multiple sources told BigPen Online that a section of the Itakpe-Warri railway line at the old Egini-Orhuhworun road, Orhuhworun town, in Udu Local Government area of Delta State have been vandalized by some suspected hooligans who are claiming landlords to the land.

The source hinted that land grabbers and sand dredgers are posing a major threat to the railway project at Orhuhworun axis.

Our source disclosed that land grabbers from that part of the state, are selling portions of the government land very close to the rail tracks to tipper operators for sand filling of houses that are under construction.

Investigation revealed that the Commissioner of Police in the state, as well as the Director of Department of State Security Service, DSS have been informed of the development.

Meanwhile, a terse message being circulated however states that the Nigerian Railway Corporation will commence the Warri Itakpe Train Service on Monday 26th November 2018.

According to the message, the train is scheduled to originate from Ujevwu in Warri and terminate in Itakpe in Kogi state few kilometers to Lokoja on Monday and Thursday and return trip from Itakpe to Warri on Tuesday and Friday.

The train will be free (No fare) for the next 4 weeks. We invite the general public to patronize the service and enjoy the dividend of democracy, the statement said.
