Editorial Policy: BigPen Nigeria (bigpenngr.com)

Our Mission

At BigPen Nigeria, our mission is to deliver fast, fearless, and fact-based investigative journalism. We serve as a watchdog for society, holding those in power accountable and providing our readers with the “story behind the story” in real-time.

Investigative Integrity & Fact-Checking

We prioritize accuracy over speed. Every investigative report undergoes a rigorous verification process:

Multi-Sourcing: We require at least two independent sources for any sensitive claim unless backed by documented evidence.
Verification: All data, legal documents, and multimedia files are vetted for authenticity before publication.
Context: We don’t just report the news; we provide the historical and political context necessary for our readers to understand the full impact.

Ethics and Independence

Impartiality: BigPen Nigeria is not affiliated with any political party, ethnic group, or corporate interest. Our reporting is guided solely by public interest.
Conflict of Interest: Our journalists must disclose any potential conflicts of interest. We do not accept gifts, favors, or payments in exchange for favorable coverage.
Anonymity: We protect whistleblowers and confidential sources. Anonymous sourcing is used only when the information is vital and the source faces credible risk of harm.

Corrections and Accountability

We believe in radical transparency. If we make a mistake, we own it:

Prompt Corrections: Errors are corrected as soon as they are identified.
Labeling: Significant updates to a story will be clearly marked with a “Correction” or “Update” timestamp at the top or bottom of the article.
Feedback: We encourage readers to report inaccuracies via [bigpennigeria@gmail.com].

Comments and Community Standards

We value the voices of our readers but maintain a standard of civil discourse:
We reserve the right to remove comments that contain hate speech, defamation, or incitement to violence.
Spam and promotional links are strictly prohibited in the discussion sections.

Copyright and Syndication

Original Content: All investigative reports and original photography are the property of BigPen Nigeria.
Republishing: No part of our investigative work may be republished without express written permission and a clear “canonical” link back to the original story on bigpenngr.com.
