2027: Isoko North Chairman Ogorugba Urges APC Leaders to Unite Ahead of Elections

The Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. (Elder) Prince Godwin Ogorugba, has urged leaders and officials of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the council area to remain committed, dedicated, and united as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ogorugba made the call on Friday during a strategic meeting with the APC local government executive members and ward chairmen at the council secretariat in Ozoro, headquarters of Isoko North Local Government Area.

Speaking at the meeting, the council chairman said the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was implementing ward-level empowerment initiatives through ward councillors, aimed at improving the welfare of people at the grassroots.

Ogorugba commended Governor Oborevwori for the initiative, describing it as a laudable human-capital development programme capable of positively impacting residents across the various wards.

The council chairman, while urging the LGA party leadership and ward executives to work closely with ward councillors and other party leaders to ensure that the empowerment programme achieves its intended objectives, he further called on the party officials to strengthen their engagement with members across the 13 wards and ensure that the party’s structures remain active and functional.

The chairman also encouraged the party leadership to intensify grassroots mobilisation and maintain regular contact with party members, stressing the importance of effective communication and coordination as preparations for the 2027 elections continue.

According to him, party officials have an important role to play in communicating the policies and programmes of the APC and its candidates to the electorate.

He said: “As party officials, we must continue to market our party and communicate the programmes and achievements of our candidates to the people. We must remain committed to our responsibilities and ensure that our party structures are strong, active and united at the grassroots.”

Ogorugba who expressed appreciation to members of the LGA executive members and ward executives for their sacrifices and contributions towards strengthening the party across the various wards, said their dedication remained important to the continued development of the party’s grassroots structure in Isoko North.

Earlier, the APC Chairman in Isoko North Local Government Area, Sunday Omonakome, commended the council chairman for his support to the party, as well as projects and other initiatives carried out across the 13 wards of the local government.

Omonakome also acknowledged the council chairman’s efforts towards promoting unity within the party, saying that regular engagements among party leaders and ward executives would help to strengthen the party’s organisational structure.

He assured the ward chairmen that strategic meetings would be held regularly to review developments within the various wards, identify challenges and obtain feedback from the grassroots.

He described the ward chairmen as the “party ward generals,” stressing that their roles were crucial to the effective functioning of the party at the grassroots.

Also speaking, the chairman of the Ward chairmen, Oghogho Philip, commended Ogorugba for what he described as his exemplary leadership, financial support to ward party chairmen and contributions to the development of the party.

Philip appealed to other political leaders to emulate the council chairman by maintaining regular contact with ward executives and supporting activities designed to strengthen party structures at the grassroots.

Other speakers, including Sunday Utore, Egurefa Godwin, Ozoro Ward 11 Chairman, Meshack Akarota, and Ofagbe Ward 04 Chairman, among others, also expressed their views on issues concerning the party’s organisation and grassroots activities.

The APC Financial Secretary in Isoko North Local Government Area, Mike Ijire, appealed to elected political leaders and political appointees to provide greater financial and logistical support for party activities in their respective wards.

Ijire also commended Oghenekome Reginald Okpobor, Executive Director, Finance and Administration, DESOPADEC, for providing two Sienna vehicles to support the activities of his ward chairmen.

The meeting ended with renewed calls for greater cooperation, regular communication and stronger grassroots engagement among APC leaders and ward executives in Isoko North.
