A ‘political cabal’ that was reportedly used to persecute the election of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in 2015 have started regrouping.

The underlying message of the ‘cabal’ drawn from various groups under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is to ensure Governor Okowa is reelected come 2019.

The group which has a valid framing of Okowa’s acolytes also parades those who were ‘made’ by immediate past governor of the state, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan as well as Delta political ‘godfather’, Chief James Ibori.

The group which went into oblivion after Okowa’s emergence in 2015, is being resurrected by the ‘clique’ who have being enjoying patronage from the state government since inception, BigPen Online can report.

Coming under the auspices of ‘Delta Political Vanguard’, the group like the ‘Light of APC’ being sponsored by Okowa’s archrival, Chief Great Ogboru is set to hit the political landscape of the state by deviously campaigning for the reelection of Governor Okowa.

Already, the group has launched itself back to the political space where the ‘cabal’ among them hold sway to the detriment of core grassroot politicians and foot soldiers used in the scheming, dirty deals and horse trading of previous elections.

DPV, parades the likes of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sherif Oborevwori, member representing Sapele/Okpe/Uvwie Federal Constituency, Hon Evelyn Oboro, Local Government Service Commission, Chief Nkem Okwuofu’ Chairman Governing Council, State Polytechnic, Ozoro, Chief Funkekeme Solomon; Chairman, Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Chief Tom Amioku, Chief Askia Ogieh among other chieftains of the PDP.

Arising from a dinner meeting held over the weekend in Asaba, the state capital, a PDP chieftain asserted that Delta Political Vanguard (DPV), has been reinvigorated to spearhead the re-election of Senator Okowa as the Governor of Delta State in the 2019 general elections.

DPV, according to him, was the umbrella body that championed the emergence of Governor Okowa as the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State in 2014 ahead of the 2015 general elections.

For members of the group, Governor Okowa’s performance within the past three years had re-energized them to drum up support for his re-election in the 2019 gubernatorial election in the state.

The dinner meeting attracted prominent politicians across party lines, including non-politicians from different parts of the state as well as Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Vincent Uduaghan and Directorate of Science and Technology, Hon. Joyce Overah, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Chiedu Ebie.

Also present at the event was the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Delta State, Charles Aniagwu, Chief Protocol Officer to the Governor, Mr. Ifeanyi Eboeigbe and Executive Assistant to the Governor on Orientation, Barr. Eugene Uzum, among others.

Senator Peter Nwaoboshi at the occasion commended the DPV for consistently working for the good of Deltans, noting that Governor Okowa has carried out the activities of governance sincerely, accountably, transparently and to the good of all Deltans .

According to the Senator who is representing Delta North, there is no better alternative to Governor Okowa, asserting that Deltans are in love with the Governor because of his developmental, progressive and unity agenda that has seen Deltans discussing as Deltans not based on ethnic sentiments.

“Every member of the National Assembly from Delta State support Governor Okowa and are eager for his re-election because, we at the National Assembly are confident that based on Governor Okowa’s antecedents in governance, he has already won the 2019 general elections, no man can stop him except God,” Senator Nwaoboshi said.

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sherif Oborevwori at the event, thanked God that Deltans are coming out to show their commitment towards the re-election of Governor Okowa in 2019 and urged members of the group to avoid playing politics of sycophancy but, work for the objective of the group to be achieved.

A renowned industrialist, Olorogun John Oguma declared that the people of Delta Central Senatorial district “are solidly behind Governor Okowa.”

“The Delta South and Central had had their turn of two terms each and it will be unfair to leave Delta North Senatorial District with only one tenure and the Governor has done very well for all Deltans ,” Chief Oguma said.

DESOPADEC Executive Director Finance and Administration, Chief Askia Ogieh at the event, said, “beyond the second term of the South and Central, Governor Okowa has demonstrated equity in the distribution of projects across the three senatorial districts and in the appointment of political office holders in the state” as such he deserved a second term without hindrances.

Others who spoke at the occasion include the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Chief Nkem Okwuofu’ Chairman Governing Council, State Polytechnic, Ozoro, Chief Funkekeme Solomon; Chairman, Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Chief Tom Amioku, among others expressed confidence that Governor Okowa will have a landslide victory in the 2019 elections because of his acceptability by Deltans .

Earlier, the Director General of the Delta Political Vanguard, Hon. Ifeanyi Eboigbe said the group was vested with the sole mandate of developing and executing political strategies that will ensure the re-election of Governor Okowa in 2019.

While asking members of the DPV to put the interest of Governor Okowa first before their personal political interest, Hon. Eboigbe asserted; “The Delta Political Vanguard should not be used to play politics of recognition but, we should all know that everyone must be relevant and work as a team for the sole desired objective which is the re-election of Governor Okowa is achieved.”
