No fewer than 497 stranded Nigerians have returned home from Niger Republic after facing hardship while seeking better economic opportunities abroad.

‎According to AIT NEWS Television, the returnees include 174 adult males, 97 adult females, 137 boys, and 89 girls. They are from different states, including Kano, Jigawa, Borno, and Kaduna, and are currently undergoing rehabilitation before being reunited with their families.

‎Many of the returnees had left Nigeria in search of greener pastures but ended up stranded due to difficult living conditions and economic challenges.

‎However, one of the returnees, Sani Hamiso, said he decided to travel because of unemployment and his desire to support his family and build a better future.

‎ “I found myself in a critical condition in Nigeria after graduating with two diplomas but no job. I had ambitions to help my parents, support my family, and build my future, including getting married, but there was nothing to do. That was why I decided to go to Libya,” Sani said.

‎Meanwhile, the evacuation has brought relief to many of the returnees, who are now receiving support and rehabilitation as they begin the process of rebuilding their lives in Nigeria.
