Delta IGR Soars to N104 Billion in H1 2025, Inches Closer to Annual Target!

Delta State’s Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) for the first six months of 2025 has hit an impressive N104,080,603,826.74, collected from January to June.

Hon Solomon Ighrakpata, the Board’s Executive Chairman, disclosed this figures in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Ighrakpata highlighted that this amount surpasses the N78,017,546,571.06 recorded in the same period in 2024, marking a significant increase of N26,063,057,255.68, or about 133.41%.

He explained that the current collection represents approximately 77.62% of the total annual revenue target of N134,092,848,109 set for 2025, indicating strong progress and optimism about exceeding the target by year-end.

“The collected revenue is against the sum of Seventy-Eight Billion, Seventeen Million, Five Hundred and Forty-Six Thousand, Five Hundred and Seventy-One Naira and Six Kobo (N78,017,546,571.06), collected for the same period in 2024, a positive variance of Twenty-Six Billion, Sixty-Three Million, Fifty-Seven Thousand, Two Hundred and Fifty-Five Naira and Sixty-Eight Kobo ( N26,063,057,255.68)
or 133.41% performance.

“The cumulative IGR collection figure of One Hundred and Four Billion, Eighty Million, Six Hundred and Three Thousand, Eight Hundred and Twenty-Six Naira and Seventy-Four Kobo (N104,080,603,826.74) for the period of January 2025 to June, 2025, the revenue service have achieved approximately 77.62 percent of the annual revenue target of One Hundred and Thirty-Four Billion, Ninety-Two Million, Eight Hundred and Forty-Eight Thousand, One Hundred and Nine Naira (N134,092,848,109.00) in the 2025 Budget estimates”.

The Chairman credited the revenue growth to strategic management of taxpayer funds, the governor’s landmark development projects across the state’s three senatorial districts, and the collaborative efforts of the IRS management and staff.

He also appreciated technical support from consultants ICMA Professional Services and Zopaz Advisory Services, as well as stakeholder engagement, taxpayer sensitization, whistleblower policies, and the establishment of specialized units for compliance and tax investigation.

Ighrakpata expressed gratitude to federal and state government agencies, security agencies, revenue banks, private sector partners, professional bodies, unions, trade groups, traditional institutions, and local governments, all of whom contributed to the successful revenue drive.

He emphasized that this achievement has provided essential funds to support more community-oriented projects under Governor Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. Agenda, further advancing the development of the state.
