Dutch truck giant, Kleyn Group, has appointed renowned environmental rights activist, Chief (Dr) Sunny Ofehe, as its Global Brand Ambassador to Nigeria in a strategic move to bolster its presence in Nigeria and enhance its foreign direct business trade.

BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reports that Ofehe’s appointment follows a thorough due diligence process by Kleyn Group, which recognized his exceptional track record in promoting Nigeria’s economic growth and foreign investment.

The official contractual agreement was signed at the headquarters of Kleyn Group on Thursday evening in The Netherlands.

As a respected voice in Nigeria’s environmental and human rights advocacy, Ofehe’s influence is expected to enhance Kleyn Group’s reputation and facilitate business partnerships in Nigeria.

Ofehe who was recently appointed as Global Ambassador for the Super Eagles Supporters Club (SESC) of Nigeria, has been committed to promoting Nigeria’s economic growth and foreign investment.

Kleyn Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mr. Dave Nijssen, said that they decided to collaborate with Ofehe because they believe he can use his vast established connections with key stakeholders in Nigeria’s government, private sector, and civil society to drive Kleyn Group’s key business objectives.

Continuing, Timo said, “As Compliance Manager, I ensure that our partnership aligns with our values and regulatory standards”.

He said that the appointment of Ofehe, a Dutch-Nigerian, showed their commitment to responsible business practice and community engagement.

Through this strategic partnership, the renowned 100-year-old company, boasting an impressive fleet of 500,000 vehicles and serving over 200,000 customers worldwide, would be re-stamping its footprint in the Nigerian market. The collaboration may also pave the way for the establishment of a local maintenance, repair, and manufacturing facility, leveraging the company’s expertise in producing innovative trucks, vans, trailers, and parts.

“This partnership will enable the legendary company to tap into Nigeria’s market, offering its specialized trucks, vans, and trailers, with plans for a local maintenance and manufacturing hub”, Ofehe said.

Recall that in October 2023, Ofehe, a former governorship candidate of Young Progressive Party, was appointed as Executive Assistant on External Relations and Diaspora Affairs by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta state with intent to help the state shore up its foreign direct investment profile.

In February 2024, Ofehe in one of his television interviews said that he had submitted an FDI portfolio of about $1 billion to the governor to celebrate his first one year in office but the state government was unable to harness the opportunity.
