‘N80.2bn Fraud’: Yahaya Bello, EFCC Continue ‘Cat And Mouse’ Game As Anti-graft Agency Declares Ex-Kogi Gov Wanted
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has declared the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, wanted.
BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reports that this was contained in a statement posted on its official Facebook handle on Thursday, April 18.
The statement read, “Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, is wanted by the EFCC for offences relating to economic and financial crimes to the tune of N80.2 billion.
“Anybody with information as to his whereabout should report immediately to the commission or the nearest police station,” the statement added.
Bello had been in a ‘cat and mouse’ game with the anti-graft agency for some days now. Following his failure to appear for interrogations, a warrant of arrest was issued for his appearance in court on Thursday for his arraignment over alleged N80.2 billion fraud.
On Wednesday, officials from the anti-graft agency surrounded the former governor’s residence in Abuja. However, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo had arrived with his security operatives and whisked Bello away from the EFCC’s grasp.
