PenTimes Communications Synergy Incorporated, publishers of BigPen Online hereby retract the report title
‘Why Delta Lawmaker, Izeze Was Suspended For A Second Time In A Year For ‘Disorderly Behavior’ published on 28 Thursday, 2017 which linked the suspension of Mr. Reuben Izeze, member representing Ughelli South Constituency in Delta State House of Assembly to the recent obeisance paid to a respected journalist in Delta State, Mr. Sola Adebayo.

In reporting the story about the suspension of the lawmaker, BigPen Online had no intention whatsoever to embarrass or diminish the high reputation of Mr. Sola Adebayo whom we holds in very high esteem.

We have come to realized that the suspension of Mr. Izeze has nothing whatsoever to do with his respectful way of greeting the notable journalist.

PenTimes Communications Synergy hereby tenders unreserved apology to Mr. Sola Adebayo for linking the suspension to the honour done him by the lawmaker who prostrated before him at a function held in Ibadan.

Reuben Izeze

Fresh facts have emerged to why the Delta State House of Assembly suspended the member representing Ughelli South Constituency, Hon Reuben Izeze.

Izeze was said to have been suspended following allegations that he leaked some classified official secret about the Assembly to the sacked former speaker of the State House, Hon Monday Igbuya and others.

Earlier report which says the lawmaker who has penchant for ‘throwing himself on the floor’ as his own ‘toady way’ of showing ‘respect’ to his seniors was not the reason for his suspension.

The Assembly for a second time in a year paused the representation of Mr Reuben Izeze as a lawmaker representing Ughelli South Constituency for ‘disorderly behavior’.

Vanguard reports on Thursday that the lawmaker’s suspension followed a motion moved by the Assembly’s Majority Leader, Mr Tim Owhefere, during the legislative body’s plenary session.

Moving the motion, Owhefere noted that the behavior of Izeze was unbecoming of a lawmaker, adding that such attitude would do the Assembly’s image no good.

He therefore moved that the lawmaker should be suspended for three months to enable him learn more about legislation.

The motion was seconded by the Chief Whip of the House, Mrs Pat Ajudua, representing Oshimili North Constituency.

It was then unanimously adopted by the Assembly after it was put through a voice vote by the Speaker, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori.

“The member representing Ughelli South is hereby suspended for a period of three months for gross misconduct,’’ the Speaker said.

The same lawmaker was also suspended by the Assembly in 2016 for alleged misconduct.

Editor’s note: Further investigation into this story has revealed that the prostrating of Hon Reuben Izeze was NOT the reason for the suspension. We should have not included the photographs in the report. The error is regretted. BigPen Online editors however urge the Speaker, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and principal officers of the House of Assembly to always state explicitly clear reasons for such actions and others so as not to cause suspense and create room for speculations.
