Prophet Melody Adjija, the embattled Warri cleric and founder of Light Way Ministries (a.k.a, last bus stop) in Enerhen, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, who was recently accused in a viral video has threatened to institute two billion naira suit claiming damages (jointlyand severally) against a police officer and popular MockTV comedian.

In a petition addressed to the Inspector General of Police as well as Delta State Commissioner of Police, the clergyman through his lawyer, Omes Ogedegbe, has accused the former Divisional Police Officer of Ebrumede Police Division, CSP Anniete Eyoh and the comedian known as Pararan of defamation.

The cleric threatened to institute the suit if he (DPO) fails to tender evidences within forty eight (48) hours that he was arrested by making public the statement obtained from him and who took him on bail (i.e. bail bond).

He also demanded that the DPO tender an unreserved apology as well as retract the scandalous and offending video in the manner wherein it was disseminated and circulated against him.

In the petition made available to BIGPEN Online, Ogedegbe claimed that Prophet Melody got a call in June 2019 from a popular comedian, Parents who operates an Online Comedy Tv show titled “Mock Newstv”demanding that unless our client pays him five million naira only he would be forced to make public a damaging tape about our client’s encounter with CSP Eyoh.

The legal practitioner said Prophet Melody dared the comedian, Pararan to make public the said video public stressing that he had nothing to hide from the public in connection with his encounter with CSP Eyoh.

“True to the threat, the internet was a washed on Saturday the 27th of July, 2019 with a video from the said comedian purportedly released to him by CSP Eyoh where in the cause of the broadcast he was understood to have meant thus;

“That our client contracted one Mr. Ehis from Owode Local Government of Edo State to stage a fake miracle in his church.

“That the said Ehis came all the way from Edo State and was paid five thousand naira only to stage a fake miracle in our client’s church after his photograph was earlier sent to our client’s phone by one Loveth who contracted him. Sadly, the said Loveth was never made to appear in the said video.

“That the said Ehis in the said video also claimed a certain Lady also pretended to be a witch in our client’s church alongside .

“That our client was subsequently arrested and detained at the police station Ebrumede, Uvwie Local Government Area if Delta State in that regard.

“Suffice to state that the said online news presentation obviously cosponsored by CSP Eyoh, our client has been brought to public odium and great disrepute before reasonable members of the public and his teeming religious supporters.

Ogedegbe said there was never a time Prophet Melody was arrested by CSP Aniette Eyoh while he acted as the DPO of Ebrumede.

Ogedegbe noted that the Cleric’s church is situated at off Enerhen road, a place under the control of the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Enerhen Divisional Headquarters, as distinct from area under the control and administration of CSP Anieteh Eyoh in Ebrumede Police Station.

Ogedegbe further said Prophet Melody’s first encounter with CSP Eyoh was sometime in January, 2019 when he was invited by the DPO to his office demanding for assistance premised on his billboard located at DSC roundabout a walkable distance from the Police Station.

According to the petitioner, Prophet Melody pledged the sum of three million, five hundred thousand naira only for the construction of a project in the division specifically to serve as a “chapel” when CSP Eyoh insisted the various police stations have a mosque but none with a chapel as his predecessor had earlier converted an office to a mosque prior to his resumption.

The petition however, said that trouble started when after the cash redemption of the pledge by Prophet Melody, he discovered the funds had been diverted as no such chapel was built none commenced within the division and started making demands .

The petition pointed out that Prophet Melody last encounter with CSP Eyoh was in March 2019 at his Ebrumede Office when he was invited again to strike a parley over the issues especially as no foundation stone was laid.

Rather than address the issues, Prophet Melody was ambushed in the DPO’s office with several very weighty and unfounded allegations raging from aiding internet fraudsters “yahoo boys” and staging false miracles, the petition alleged.

The situation got to an alarming crescendo when the police officer threatened to eliminate Prophet Melody and nothing will happen, a threat that made Prophet Melody to literally kneel down before the DPO pleading to spare his life, the petition further read.

According to Ogedegbe, the physical and mental torture Prophet Melody was subjected to is without precedent in both number and scale especially as the cleric was made to suffer severe torture each time he deviated from their script as they were recording intermittently.

He said that despite the trauma Prophet Melody was subjected to in the DPO’s office upon his release he was seen to have fostered the illusion when he again demanded to know what should become of the funds raised by his church for the chapel project upon the transfer of CSP Eyoh who promised to get back to the cleric within the shortest possible time.

According to Ogedegbe, while Prophet Melody was waiting the response, the trending video eventually surface not after a call from the said Pararan who the cleric insisted is a known pun in CSP Eyoh’s chessboard.

Ogedegbe expressed surprise that why the said video surfaced to divert or weaken Prophet Melody’s resolve to ensure the funds he raised for a chapel project at Ebrumede Police Station is used for that purpose.

All efforts to reach either the police officer or the said comedian for their comment on this report proved abortive but a security personnel who have knowledge of the development dismissed the claims in the petition, saying that the cleric’s petition was only a face saving measure for the scandal.
