Action Governors Appoint Principal Officers In Bauchi, Lagos, Adamawa, Oyo States

The new Governors of Bauchi, Lagos Adamawa and Oyo States have appointed major principal officers for their respective administration less than 24 hours after their inaugurations.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state approved the appointment of Dr Abubakar Kari as Chief of Staff (CoS) and Alhaji Muhammad Baba as a Secretary to the State Government(SSG). Dr Ladan Salihu, the Spokesperson to the Governor, made the announcement in a statement issued in Bauchi.

Other appointments include Alhaji Bashir Yau, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Baba Tela. Others are the Deputy National President, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Alhaji Muktar Gidado, as Senior Special Assistant, Media, to the Governor and Alhaji Umaruji Hassan as Chief Protocol.

The newly sworn in Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa also appointed Alhaji Ahmad Bashir as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Mr Solomon Kumangar as Director General, Media and Communication. Similarly, a Yola-based reporter with AIT, Mr George Kushi has been appointed Chief Press Secretary to the Adamawa Deputy Governor, Mr Seth Crowther.

A statement by the Permanent Secretary (Administration), Government House, Alhaji Bello Sugu, said the appointments take immediate effect.

The newly inaugurated Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has also appointed the Peoples Democratic Party senatorial candidate for the last Oyo South polls, Bisi Ilaka, as his Chief of Staff.

Mr Ilaka graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 1978. He also bagged a Bachelor of Laws Degree with Honours from the University of London, then proceeded to attend the College of Law, Lancaster Gate, London in 1990.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos also appointed a former Head of Service in the state, Mrs. Folasade Jaji, as the new Secretary to the State Government.

The Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola made the announcement in a statement in Lagos.

Jaji joined the Lagos State Civil Service on October 27, 1980 at the State Judicial Service Commission before she was deployed to the Governor’s Office. A chemist, she had served as the 17th Head of Service of the state’s Public Service and now the 18th Secretary to the State Government.
