How 43-Year-Old Nigerian-British Influencer Dies After Cosmetic Penis Enlargement

A 43-year-old Nigerian-British businessman and social media influencer, Igho Ubiribo, has died following complications from a penis enlargement procedure he underwent while on holiday in Thailand.

Ubiribo, popularly known by the nicknames “Tiny,” “Denisi” and “Ego,” reportedly travelled to Bangkok with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen, when he decided to undergo the cosmetic procedure.

Evidence presented at an inquest at the Inner West London Coroners’ Court showed that 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine were injected into Ubiribo’s penis at an unnamed clinic in Thailand in March.

After the procedure, Ubiribo and his wife reportedly returned to their Marriott hotel for a massage. During the session, he complained of chest pain and collapsed twice.

He was rushed to Sukhumvit Hospital, where he was initially conscious and able to respond to questions. His wife reportedly informed doctors that he had recently undergone penis filler injections.

Doctors suspected that he had suffered a pulmonary embolism and recommended a CT scan. However, Ubiribo reportedly lost consciousness before the scan could be conducted.

He was subsequently transferred to intensive care, where medical staff performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation for more than 100 minutes. He died in the early hours of March 6.

A postmortem examination conducted in the UK later found cellular material in Ubiribo’s lungs that was consistent with the hyaluronic acid used during the procedure.

Pathologist John du Parcq told the inquest that the material found in Ubiribo’s lungs matched the substance used in the cosmetic treatment.

According to the evidence, the finding was consistent with a pulmonary embolism and also corresponded with the findings of an autopsy conducted in Thailand.

Coroner Jean Harkin subsequently concluded that Ubiribo died from a pulmonary embolism caused by the cosmetic procedure.

A pulmonary embolism occurs when a blood vessel supplying the lungs becomes blocked. It can be life-threatening because it may suddenly restrict blood flow to the lungs and place significant strain on the heart.

Information provided by Ubiribo’s London doctor during the inquest indicated that he had previously undergone joint surgery and had been described as pre-diabetic and suffering from gout.

However, his doctor reportedly said he had no other significant medical conditions.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are sometimes used as a non-surgical method of increasing penile girth. Medical professionals, however, have warned that injectable cosmetic fillers can carry serious complications.

Ubiribo was also known for documenting his affluent lifestyle on social media, where he had about 185,000 Instagram followers.

Reports said he owned a home in Los Angeles valued at about $1.1 million and a London apartment worth approximately $600,000.

He married fashion designer and socialite Danielle Simba Allen in a lavish ceremony in Zimbabwe in 2022.

According to the Daily Mail, a UK coroner has ruled that the procedure caused a fatal pulmonary embolism.

Following his death, Ubiribo was buried in London in a reported gold coffin said to have cost more than $600,000.

Afrobeats superstar Davido, who was described as Ubiribo’s childhood friend, was among those who attended the funeral and reportedly spoke about his shock over the businessman’s death.

Ubiribo’s death has renewed concerns over the potential risks of cosmetic procedures involving injectable fillers, highlighting the possibility of severe and, in rare cases, fatal complications.
