Jubilation as Isoko North Chairman Renovates Otor-Igho Community Market

The Otor-Igho community market, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, was on Wednesday filled with excitement and jubilation as traders and residents celebrated the transformation of the market following its renovation and landscaping by the council chairman, Hon. (Elder) Prince Godwin Ogorugba.

The atmosphere was festive as the council chairman visited the market as part of his ongoing inspection of completed and ongoing projects across the local government. Ogorugba was welcomed with songs, dancing and loud cheers from market women and community members, who expressed appreciation for what they described as a life changing intervention.

For years, traders at the Otor-Igho Community Market had grappled with poor infrastructure and an unconducive trading environment. However, the recent facelift of the market has significantly improved its appearance and functionality, providing a cleaner, more organised and accessible space for commercial activities.

Speaking on behalf of the traders, Mrs. Florence Oyibu described the council chairman as “God sent” to the people of Isoko North, particularly the Otor-Igho community, saying his administration had demonstrated a genuine commitment to improving the welfare of ordinary people.

According to her, the renovated market has restored confidence among traders and created an environment that encourages business growth and attracts more customers.

“Chairman, you have changed the narrative. Our market women are very happy. Today, we can buy and sell our goods in a clean, safe and conducive environment. Your administration has brought hope to us, and we pray that God will continue to strengthen and bless you,” she said.

Mrs. Oyibu also reaffirmed the support of the market women for the Ogorugba administration, while pledging their backing for candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming general elections.

Responding, Ogorugba thanked the traders for the warm reception and words of encouragement, noting that the appreciation shown by the women serves as motivation for his administration to remain focused on delivering projects that directly improve the lives of the people.

Ogorugba reiterated that his administration remains committed to grassroots development through the provision of critical infrastructure capable of stimulating economic activities and improving living standards across the 13 wards of Isoko North Local Government Area.

The council chairman assured residents that the renovation of the Otor-Igho Community market forms part of a broader development agenda aimed at modernising public facilities, empowering local businesses and creating an enabling environment for commerce to flourish.

Ogorugba disclosed that additional people-centred projects have been earmarked for execution as his administration enters its third year in office, adding that no community would be left behind in the council’s development drive.

“We are encouraged by the confidence our people have continued to repose in this administration. Our resolve is to continue implementing projects that will have direct and lasting impacts on the lives of our people. We will not relent in our efforts to ensure every ward benefits from meaningful development,” Ogorugba said.

The renovation of the Otor-Igho community market is one of several infrastructure projects undertaken by the Ogorugba-led administration to improve public facilities, promote local commerce and enhance the socio-economic wellbeing of residents across Isoko North.
