Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thanks President Tinubu Over Assent to Federal Medical Centre Act, Oleh

Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, representing Delta South Senatorial District, has thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing into law the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Oleh Establishment Bill, paving the way for the establishment of the first federal tertiary healthcare institution in Delta South Senatorial District of the state.

The legislation which was sponsored by Senator Joel-Onowakpo, is tailored to improve access to specialised healthcare services in the oil-producing Senatorial District which has long lacked a federal medical centre.
Senator Joel-Onowakpo in a statement he personally signed and tagged “New Dawn for Healthcare in Delta South Senatorial District”, thanked President Tinubu for asserting to the Bill which is a landmark development that heralds a new era of equitable development and improved healthcare access for the people of Delta South Senatorial District.
He said that the Bill which was successfully passed by the National Assembly, was among bills signed into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Thursday.
“As the sponsor of this historic legislation, I, Distinguished Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, extend my deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his visionary leadership and commitment to the welfare of all Nigerians”, the lawmaker said.
He said that the prompt assent to the Bill by President Tinubu has demonstrated his clear dedication to addressing regional imbalances and strengthening the nation’s healthcare infrastructure.
Joel-Onowakpo equally expressed profound thanks to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas; the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, the Leader of the Senate, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, as well as the entire leadership and members of the National Assembly.
He said that their collective support, legislative expertise, and collaborative spirit were instrumental in ensuring the smooth passage of the Bill.
“Your dedication to national development and responsiveness to the needs of underserved regions is truly commendable and will be long remembered”, he wrote.
The Federal lawmaker also thanked the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as well as High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) and Mr. Matthew Tonlagha for their encouragement and support to ensure the feat is achieved in the senatorial district.

Senator Joel-Onowakpo congratulated the resilient constituents of Delta South Senatorial District, for their steadfastness in the realisation of the first of its kind establishment of the Federal Medical Centre in Oleh, saying that the historic milestone would bring to an end the agelong marginalisation of the region.
“For far too long, the communities that have borne the brunt of crude oil exploration have endured inadequate access to quality healthcare”, he lamented adding “this Federal Medical Centre will serve as a vital beacon of hope, delivering world-class medical services to our people and contributing meaningfully to their well-being and prosperity.
“This achievement is a reflection to what can be accomplished through purposeful representation, unity of purpose, and responsive governance. We remain committed to attracting more transformative projects that will continue to redefine the progress of Delta South”.
The presidential assent to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Oleh Establishment Act adds to Joel-Onowakpo’s legislative record , after earlier sponsoring the Nigeria Maritime University Okerenkoko Establishment Act which had since become law and functional in the Niger Delta region thus adding a major milestone to the drive to strengthen healthcare and educational infrastructure in the Delta.
