The Federal Government has formally cleared four newly appointed Nigerian ambassadors and high commissioners to assume diplomatic duties in Trinidad and Tobago, Kenya, Equatorial Guinea and Egypt.

This come as the implementation of President Bola Tinubu’s foreign service appointments gathers momentum.

The Letters of Credence were presented to the envoys on Monday in Abuja by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sola Enikanolaiye, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement, signed by the ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, said the presentation followed the receipt of agreement from the respective host countries, paving the way for the diplomats to officially take up their assignments.

The ministry disclosed that 63 of the 69 ambassadors appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have now secured acceptance from their host nations, including India and South Africa.

It added that many of the envoys have already departed Nigeria to commence their tours of duty, while efforts continue to secure approval for the remaining appointments.

According to the ministry, the deployment of the ambassadors is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement and deepen bilateral relations with countries across different regions.

The government also expressed confidence that the remaining host nations yet to issue agreement would do so soon, enabling the full roll out of the administration’s diplomatic representation strategy.

Officials said the appointments form part of ongoing efforts to advance Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives and consolidate cordial relations with partner countries around the world.
