Isoko North Chairman Calls for collaboration Between Security Forces, Meets Army Chief

In a bid to strengthen and tackle insecurity in communities, Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Godwin Ogorugba, has called for a stronger collaboration between the Army, police, civil defence and other security agencies and local community vigilantes.

Ogorugba who made the call Thursday while receiving Lt. Col. N.P. Oghasi, Commanding Officer of the 181 Amphibious Battalion, Agbor, and his team during a familiarisation visit to his office in Ozoro, stated the collaboration will no doubt address potential security threats.

The chairman noted that security challenges can be curtailed when all stakeholders work together, emphasizing that strong cooperation between security agencies and community members was a key to preventing threats before they escalate.

“Working closely with the community vigilantes will provide security agencies with timely and useful information, strengthening overall security efforts,” Ogorugba said.

The council chairman assured the Commanding Officer of the council’s full support, adding, that “We are ready to cooperate with you. Whenever our assistance is required as a government, we will provide it to ensure effective results.”

Present to receive the Nigerian Army delegation alongside at the chairman’s office were the Secretary to the Local Government, Vote Umukoro; the Supervisor for Agriculture and Community Development, Thomas Akpoedafe; SA to Chairman, Erero Oloku; the Director of Protocol to the Chairman, Jude Ogwologho; and others.
