The Dom Domingos College Old Student Association (DOCOSA), Warri, Delta State, on Sunday, January 11, 2026, threw a grandeur end-of-year celebration at the Bliss Event Centre Ekpan, marking over four decades of alumni camaraderie and achievements.

The event was characterized by pageantry, cheers, and a nostalgic reflection on the association’s journey.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Mr. Moses Okpako Udu, in his welcome address expressed his joy at seeing numerous alumni gathered.

“It’s truly inspiring to see so many old students here today. This event marks 41 years since our first set graduated and was sent forth on June 17, 1985,” he stated.

Udu, the pioneer senior prefect and first president of DOCOSA, reminisced about the association’s origins.

“The dream of forming DOCOSA started the day our pioneer principal, the late Dame Mrs. Clementina Bakpa, challenged us,” he recalled. “She told me, ‘Moses Udu, make sure in ten years from today, the Old Students Association must be formed.’ We took that charge seriously.”

He shared how the association was officially established. “It was in my residence in 1999 that we formed the association and in 2001 we formally inaugurated the association, after merging the first president.

“I was privileged to become the first BoT chairman in 2002,” Udu added.

“We’ve always maintained a strong bond, thanks to disciplined teachers and our collective dedication.”

Addressing the current state of DOCOSA, Udu praised the efforts of the current leadership.

“Our president, Godwin Kaizer Toritseju, is doing a fantastic job in keeping our vision alive and expanding our reach,” he said.

“We’re also grateful to our members in the diaspora for their unwavering financial support, which has helped us execute projects and support students.”

“It all began with a small idea from our pioneer principal, which we are privileged to inherit,” he said.

“We started with about 12 members at Moses Udu’s residence in Warri, and since then, we’ve grown to include chapters in Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt, which will be inaugurated soon.”

He disclosed that since 1999 when Udu first started the affairs of the association as president, they have had 8 past president with him being the 9th President.

He outlined future plans, including uniting all school sets, awarding scholarships, and renovating school facilities. “We’ve already helped with projects like toilet and borehole renovations, constructing an ICT hall, and donating a modern library,” he added.

“We encourage our younger alumni to join us and continue building on our legacy.”

Event Planning Committee Chair, Oghenekevwe Akporerhe, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to organize the event. “It was a huge success,” he stated.
