Gbajabiamila, Muri-Okunola Remain in Positions; No Rift in Presidency
Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is neither sacked nor replaced with the Principal Private Secretary of the president, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reports a viral social media report claimed that Gbajabiamila was relieved of his duty and has been replaced thus fueling suspicious that there is a crack in the presidency.
It was not clear though if there is a ‘cool war’ between Gbajabiamila and Hakeem Muri-Okunola or it is a ‘subterfuge moves’ to oust Gbajabiamila but a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President, (Information and Strategy), on Thursday, suggests that the duo remained in their respective positions.
The statement reads; “The attention of the Presidency has been drawn to a viral falsehood circulating on social media suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, with his Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
“There is absolutely no truth to this story. We advise Nigerians to disregard it entirely.
“The Chief of Staff remains in his position. The Principal Private Secretary likewise remains in his role. Hakeem Muri-Okunola has not replaced Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff.
“The viral claim is a fabrication by mischievous purveyors of fake news whose sole aim is to create disharmony within the government.
“We reiterate that news media should always verify their information before publishing or sharing on social media”.
