FG Orders Closure of 47 Federal Unity Colleges with Immediate Effects Amid Terrorists Attacks

The Nigeria’s Federal Government, on Friday, announced closure of all 47 federal Unity Colleges across the country with immediate effects.

The closure comes amidst pervading cases of terror attacks in Kwara, Kebbi and Niger States where worshippers and students respectively, were abducted in droves by suspected armed bandits.

A statement signed by Hajia Binta Abdulkadir, Director, Senior Secondary Education for the Minister of Education, Dr. L Maruf Tunji Alausa, directs all principals of federal unity Colleges to immediately shut down the schools and evacuate the students.

The statement reads;

“Sequel to the recent security challenges in some parts of the country and the need to prevent any security breaches, the Honourable Minister of Education has approved the immediate closure of the listed Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs) with immediate effect (see attached).

“2. Principals of affected Colleges are to ensure strict compliance”.

BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reports that over 100 students and staff of a Catholic missionary school in Niger State were taken hostage, Friday morning barely few days after the Kebbi incident where a similar attack was launched on a public school.
