Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to maintaining a strong partnership with the church in driving the state’s sustainable development agenda.

Speaking in Bomadi during a Mass to celebrate the 70th birthday of the Bishop of Bomadi Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Hyacinth Egbebo, the governor described the church as a vital pillar of development, not only in Delta State but across Nigeria.

He urged the church to continue to support the government through prayers, sound counsel, and developmental initiatives. “In times like these, the prayers and support of the church are critical in making governance more meaningful,” Governor Oborevwori said through his Senior Policy Adviser, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, who represented him at the event.

The governor commended Bishop Egbebo for being a courageous advocate for the voiceless and the oppressed, adding that his administration remains committed to equitable development across all parts of the state.

Highlighting key infrastructure projects in Bomadi and its environs, Oborevwori mentioned the completion of the Ohoror–Bomadi Road, the Tamigbe–Torugbene Road, and the ongoing Ayakoromor Bridge project, which is nearing completion.

He reaffirmed his determination to leave behind the best network of roads in Nigeria by the end of his tenure.

Delivering the homily, the Bishop of Warri Diocese, Most Rev. Anthony Ewherido, emphasized the importance of gratitude and accountability in life. “Life is a gift we must be thankful for a gift we must not take for granted. We will all give account of how we used our blessings,” he said.
