The 90 Students offered scholarship by Senator Ned Nwoko at the Sports University of Nigeria, Idumuje-Ugboko, have undergone screening exercise, signaling the begin of their academic pursuit.

With the process now complete, the selected students are poised to begin their academic journey fully funded by the Senator.

The initiative, which was announced earlier this year, will support 90 students, 10 from each of the nine local government areas in Delta North, providing full scholarships that cover tuition and accommodation.

“This is a lifeline and an answered prayer for many families,” said Eze Onwenna, a supporter of the program. “Senator Nwoko’s commitment to youth empowerment is not just inspiring, it is transformative.”

The Sports University of Nigeria, known for its cutting-edge facilities and academic excellence in both sports and related disciplines, will serve as the new academic home for the beneficiaries. The scholarship not only aims to provide quality education but also to nurture leadership, discipline, and excellence among the youth.

Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North in the National Assembly, has long been vocal about the role of education in societal development. This scholarship program is among several initiatives he has launched to invest in the region’s future.

“This milestone is a strong testament to the Senator’s vision of societal reorientation and sustainable development,” Onwenna added. “We look forward to seeing these young minds thrive and emerge as ambassadors of Delta North and Nigeria.”

The successful screening marks a major step forward for the initiative, with preparations now underway for the students’ official enrollment at the university. Their academic journey is expected to begin in the coming weeks.

As the program progresses, it is hoped that the ripple effects will be felt not only in education but in sports development, youth leadership, and community transformation throughout the Delta region.
