The Nigerian Army, has approved a Model Defence Comprehensive School to be sited in Delta State, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has said.

He made the disclosure on Monday at Asaba when he paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

According to the Chief of Defence Staff who was represented by Rear Admiral Joseph Akpan, Chief of Defence Administration, all the geo-political zones in the country will play host to one of the Model Defence Comprehensive Schools and Delta was chosen to host that of South South geo-political zone.

He said, “there has been a decision before now to site a Model Defense Comprehensive School in the six geo-political zones of the country; the one for North Central is already at a very high level of completion and it is in Kaduna State.

“I am also delighted to report that the one for South-West is located in Ondo State, so, this particular trip is to inform the Governor and the people of Delta State that we have found it worthy to choose Delta State as a location for the South-South project; worthy in all respects because of the normal transformative leadership style of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

“So, we are really happy to be here today, and we are very glad that we have been given the opportunity to meet with the Governor and also very key, important state officials.

“We thank the Governor for opening the door for this massive project that will bring the whole country to Delta, it is something that Deltans will be very proud of.”
