Gov Soludo, Wife, Senator Ekwunife in Messy Fight over Children’s Paternity, Infidelity in Marriage

Nonye Soludo, the wife of the Anambra State Governor, and a former representative of Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Uche Ekwunife, are engaged in a dirty fight over the paternity of their children and infidelity in marriage.

The two took their fight a notch higher on Saturday when they both issued a statement and counter-statement on their personal beef.

The fight between the two has been traced to a comment by Governor Soludo during his reelection campaign, where he cast aspersion on the certificates of Ekwunife, who is the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the election coming up in the state on November 8, 2025.

Soludo, who said he doubted the PhD and secondary school certificates of Ekwunife, is seeking reelection on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

He questioned the genuineness of the PhD certificate, which she submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the governorship election.

He said the institution that awarded the degree in America is not accredited in the United States and in Nigeria by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Ekwunife, in her response, described Soludo as an unhygienic person.

She said in a video in Igbo: “Have they not told you that your mouth smells?

“You’re the dirtiest governor in the whole of Africa. You smell, your armpits smell. Tell your wife to get you a deodorant.

“When you take your bath, you apply it to your armpits so you can be like your fellow men.

“When you open your mouth to speak, the odour that comes out is so stinking and embarrassing for a governor.”

Ekuwnife then linked Soludo and his wife with a former Governor of Anambra State, late Dr. Chiwonke Mbadinuju.

She said both husband and wife worked for the administration of Mbadinuju and as such should not criticise him.

Responding in a statement she personally signed on Saturday, Mrs. Soludo said: “I challenge you, Uche Ekwunife, for us to subject our children to paternity tests. Science has made life easy and there are things you cannot lie about nowadays. To avoid any stories in Nigerian hospitals, let us do it in three reputable hospitals in London.

“You and your family are often in London, but I will pay the expenses. As a businesswoman, I will pay for you and your family’s travels, as well as for the tests. If after the tests it is confirmed that your husband is the father of all your children, I will congratulate you with a cash award. I can confirm that my family is ready for this test any moment of your choice, preferably between now and end of October/November 2025.

“As a woman of conservative Catholic upbringing, I pride myself in my chastity. What about you? In the name of God, you must accept the above harmless challenges about your fidelity/chastity as a ‘distinguished” Senator.’

“Since Uche Ekwunife claims to be a converted Catholic, I challenge her for both of us to swear an oath of fidelity and chastity at any Cathedral in front of the Blessed Sacrament.

“You mentioned screen shooting someone’s name and putting in your Bible. So, you must know the efficacy of the Holy Book. We should also add the Bible with the Sacrament.

“I will swear (with my children) that in my 55 years on earth, I have known only one man—Chukwuma Soludo.

“On your part, you should also swear (with your children or your political ambitions) that since you got married, you have never cheated on your husband.

“Let us do this between now and mid October 2025.

“Initially I remarked that one should not exchange words with a madman because passersby may not know the difference.

“However, when the ‘madman’ is determined to kill/destroy—as she boasted in her viral audio that she would fabricate outlandish lies to destroy my family, we are constrained to respond.

“We had shrugged off and laughed at her hilarious tantrums at my husband and I as the ‘usual Uche’s madness’, but now that her madness has crossed the red line by even dragging my innocent children into the arena and setting to destroy them, Ekwunife has left us with no choice.

“This is a woman for whom I have cooked and fed, together with her children on several occasions they visited my house. For her to sit down and fabricate/spew all manner of invectives and criminal allegations against me and my children without any provocation from us, shows someone who can even kill.

“Many people called and asked me to ignore Ekwunife because, according to them, she is like a mad dog which has no shame or character and can therefore say or do anything anywhere. I understand that it has been her rehearsed strategy with every man she had a political fight.

“I understand that her standard template is to maliciously go after their families—especially their wives. Everyone talks about how she tried to destroy the reputation of an innocent wife of a senator when she had a contest with him.

“Well, let me assure you Uche Ekwunife, that you are in for a different season with a different woman. My weapons are decency, character, and grace. I am a long-distance runner, and I welcome you to the marathon.”

In her swift response on Saturday, titled: “You owe your husband the explanations not me,” Senator Ekwunife said: “Without dwelling on trivial issues that are mere diversionary to my earlier friendly advise to Mrs. Nonye Soludo to take care of the hygiene of her husband, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, it has become imperative for me to further evaluate the contents of Mrs. Soludo’s statement as a response to my advice.

“In the said statement circulating online in various platforms, personally signed by the wife of the Governor, Mrs. Soludo among other claims tried so much to explain her chastity, fidelity, prove her virginity and other issues.

“Without dignifying her with a response or condescending to their low mental level, I make bold to say that Mrs. Nonye Soludo doesn’t owe me all those explanations. She owes her husband those explanations and other actions that could exonerate her and prove her innocence over paternity of her children. Not me!

“It is therefore my stand that Mrs. Soludo owes me no explanation over her children paternity as I am not her husband. She owes every explanations to Prof Chukwuma Soludo. Since they said only women know the father of their children. If my statement stoked out some biles in Mrs. Soludo and triggered any guilt in her conscience, she owes only her husband explanation but if it demands her taking an oath to show her innocence, she is free to do that. But Nonye Soludo should also know that ‘Ceassar’s wife should live above suspicion.’

“She should leave me out of her paternity crisis because challenging me to a DNA test doesn’t add up as she has only one person to prove her innocence and virginity to and that is her husband. If Soludo demands a DNA on his children, let Nonye go ahead with her full chest and do it to prove her innocence and if it warrants oath taking, she should also go ahead and do it. Why dragging me into her personal and family affairs?

“I don’t have further reaction to give to Mrs. Soludo who has been a house wife and who claims to own companies both in Nigeria and abroad. There is no clear evidence of how Mrs Soludo has impacted anyone’s life before her husband rose to various positions he’s holding till date.

“Without sounding proud, I want to advice Mrs. Soludo to strive harder to achieve one quarter of what I have achieved as a woman whose husband has never held any position but through God’s grace and perseverance from various agents of destruction and those who vilify others just like Mrs. Soludo and her husband, I have continued to soldier on in my quest to touch lives positively.

“Finally, our resolve to save Anambra State from misrule and embarrassment is total and our will is undaunted.”
