The late Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom

Deputy President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has described the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom in Delta State, His Royal Majesty Macaulay Popo Ovbagbedia, Uhurhie-Osadjere II, as a bastion of Urhobo culture, advocate of peace and distinguished law officer.

Omo-Agege, in a statement e-signed by his media adviser,Sunny Areh, stated this in a tribute to the traditional ruler who has joined his ancestors.

Knowledgeable and widely travelled, the royal father had a meritorious service in the Nigeria Police Force where he retired as a Deputy Commissioner and served as Otota (spokesman) of Olomu kingdom for 35 years before he was crowned as the traditional ruler of the kingdom on May 20, 2023.

In his tribute, Senator Omo-Agege noted that as an advocate of Urhobo culture, development and peace, he impacted on the people tremendously as Deputy President of Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU).

“As a prominent royal father, he stood for the Urhobo nation and worked assiduously for the peace and development of our people while serving the UPU for many years.

“We, people of Urhoboland, are lucky to have had him as a royal father. I commiserate with the people of the ancient Olomu Kingdom and the entire Urhoboland on his transition. May the peace, cultural awareness and development he espoused continue to endure,” Senator Omo-Agege stated in his condolence message.
