All Set for Grand Inauguration of Newly Built NUJ Warri Correspondents Chapel’s Press Centre, on Fri.

All is set for the inauguration of the newly built Press Centre of the Warri Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
The state-of-the-art press centre was built and furnished by High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, in recognition of the role of journalists in advancing democracy and societal development.
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, would perform the grand inauguration as part of activities lined up for the union’s 2025 Press Week.
In an official invitation made available to journalists in the state during the week signed by Chairman of the Press Week Committee, Dele Fasan, and Secretary, Omafuaire Akpokona, said, the inauguration ceremony will take place on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at No. 3, Eburu Street, off Okumagba Avenue and Eboh Road, Okumagba Layout, Warri, Delta State.
Chairman of the occasion is Professor Ezekiel Agbalagba, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE),Effurun, Delta State.
The Press Week will feature public lectures, engaging discussions, and a prestigious awards ceremony celebrating excellence in journalism and leadership.
The statement called on journalists, stakeholders, and members of the public to attend the historic event, which they described as “a bold stride towards strengthening press freedom and media development in Delta State.”
Award recipients include: Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) – Best Private Security Company of the Year, Chief (Hon.) Thomas Ereyitomi – Award for Excellent Representation in the National Assembly, High Chief Kestin Ebmorbowei Pondi (FNIIS, FNSE) – Exceptional Leadership Award, and Peter Omoh Dunia Esq. (Peter Black) – Award for Community Development in the Niger Delta.
Others include the HRM Monday Whiskey, the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom – Meritorious Award for Elevating Journalism to Royalty, Prince Olatunji Olusoji– Young Entrepreneurship Award, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku (MD, NDDC) – Visionary Leadership Award, Lily Hospital – Innovative Hospital of the Year and ACP Aliyu Shaba – Crime Fighter of the Year Award.
The event promises to be a landmark celebration of media advancement, public service, and community impact.
