Isoko South Boss, Voke Warri Bags Outstanding LGA Chairman’s Award In Abuja

Chairman of Isoko South council of Delta state, Friday Ovoke Warri, has won the outstanding local government chairman award courtesy of Rootswatch Magazine for his giant strides in delivering of dividends of democracy to his people in fulfillment of his campaign promises.

The event which took place on Thursday at the National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja, witnessed the presence of government functionaries, politicians, captives of industries and council chairmen across the country.

Bestowing the honour on Warri and other local government areas chairmen in Nigeria by Rootswatch Magazine during its 23rd merit award for local government chairmen and the launching of the Rootswatch magazine edition was a timely response to the yearnings of grassroots people for a voice of their own.

In his welcome address, the editor-in-chief of Rootswatch Magazine, who also doubles as national coordinator of the Rootswatch ‘distinguished local government chairmen Marit Award’, Bayode Ojo, said the award was given to the Isoko South chairman, Friday Ovoke Warri and other co-awardees for their recognition of their achievements since they were elected into office as council chairmen.

Eulogising the Isoko South council chairman, Ojo said Warri was adjudged among the best through his strategic grassroots leadership and infrastructural development in the local government since he assumed office as chairman within a year.

“Quite a lot has been achieved by the Warri Ovoke-led administration in the council area within the short period he was elected alongside 25 others some months ago. His sterling performance earned him massive votes cast by the people of the state following his nomination by Rootswatch magazine, who believes in performance in all areas, and this award will go a long way to spur him and his colleagues to do more at the grassroots.”, Ojo stated.

In his remark, the elated people friendly and performing Isoko South council chairman, Friday Ovoke Warri, submitted that “The award is a call to do more and a reminder that all acts of every individual are being watched and would be rewarded accordingly.

“This award couldn’t have been possible without the support of the people of the Isoko South and Delta State at large, especially the M.O.R.E. agenda governor of Delta State, my boss, His Excellency RT. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who has given us a platform to take dividends of democracy to the grassroots and keep our campaign promises.

“I want to say here and now that more positive turnaround shall be witnessed in the local government area during my tenure, our administration firmly believes that the council area can be transformed for the social, economic and political benefits of our people within a very short time.

“At the moment, palliatives have been activated to make roads passable for investors. We have completed the Ogbemudia bad spot, and we are currently working on the Irri-Oyede road, and it will be completed before the end of this month. Plans are also being put in place to boost agriculture; as a result, we have the pepper pilot project farm within the council secretariat.

“We also recently trained and distributed cassava stems to selected farmers in Isoko South. In order to improve the education and healthcare systems, we have distributed countless educational and medical materials as well as enhanced the security system in Isoko South,” Warri added.

Jerry Ehiwarior, chairman of Ika South Local Government Area and Festus Ashima, chairman of Warri North Local Government Area of Delta state were among council chairmen across the county that were bestowed with the merit awards during the ceremony.
