Vigilante Member Allegedly Shoot Poly Student, Gets Arrested In Delta

Ike Peter, a member of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in Ogwashi-Uku, has allegedly shot and killed a student of Ogwashi-Uku Polytechnic one Peter Eyorowalebo, aged 29 years old.
The incident happened, on Wednesday April 30, 2025, at about 09:30 am while the student was reportedly reading for his examination in his room.
State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe who confirmed the incident, however said that the suspect has been arrested on the order of the commissioner of Police, Delta State Police Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda.
Edafe said that the DPO Ogwashi-Uku had received a distress call that the suspect, Ike Peter, a member of vigilante group of Nigeria, shot and killed the victim in his room while he was reading and preparing for exams.
The DPO swiftly mobilised to the scene, and found the victim in a pool of his blood.
The deceased was taken to the hospital and was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
His body has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
Edafe said that the suspect, Peter Ike, was immediately arrested, and on the instructions of the commissioner of Police, the suspect was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police, the State Criminal Investigation Department, to take over the case and ensure that a thorough investigation is carried out.
“The CP, while condoling with the family of the deceased and students of the Polytechnic, also advised them to remain calm as no stone will be left unturned, assuring them of Justice”, Edafe added.
