BHC Disowns ‘UK Army Officer’ Linked To Illegal Arms Smuggling In Warri, Says He Has Been Dismissed

The British High Commission, Abuja, has said that the individual identified in recent Nigerian media reporting with regards to illegal arms procurement is not a serving member of the United Kingdom Armed Forces.
A spokesperson from the British High Commission stated this in a terse statement issued in Abuja and made available to Daily Sun.
“The individual identified in recent Nigerian media reporting is not a serving member of the UK Armed Forces,” the British High Commission Spokesperson said.
Recall that one Major Micah Polo, who was reported to be a British army officer, was said to have been arrested regarding arms that were unearthed in Delta State.
Fifty AK-47 rifles, six pump-action shotguns and over 3,000 rounds of ammunition were said to have been recovered from his associates who were earlier arrested.
But the British High Commission further clarified that the individual identified did serve as a junior rank in the UK Armed Forces Reserves, but was discharged.
The High Commission also said that whilst in the Reserves, he was a junior rank and not a commissioned officer.
