Governor Siminalayi Fubara, on Wednesday, said that ‘there is anything to worry about’ after he was snubbed by the Rivers Assembly Speaker, Martin Amaewhule and members of the House in his bid to represent the state’s 2025 Appropriation Bill in compliance with the Supreme Court judgement.

BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reported that Governor Fubara met a locked gate after he and exco members arrived at the lawmakers’ residential quarter.

Governor Fubara arrived at the lawmakers’ residential quarters along Aba Road in the morning, accompanied by members of the State Executive Council to present the 2025 Appropriation Bill in compliance with the Supreme Court judgement.

Addressing newsmen at the gate of the House of Assembly Residential Quarters, Governor Fubara said he had made several calls to reach the Speaker, Martin Amaewhule and members of the House.

He said: “I am here myself this morning with members of the State Executive Council to comply with the Supreme Court judgement.

“Before my arrival, I have already made several attempts by phone call to reach the Speaker and Honourable members. I have also personally written a letter which was transmitted to the Honourable Speaker for this particular invitation.”

He described as unfortunate that the Assembly Quarters was sealed and there was no indication that the purpose of the visit would abe chieved.

Governor Fubara emphasized that the essence of the step he has taken was in the interest of Rivers people, expressing hope to hear from the House soonest.

“But it is unfortunate that at the gate, you can see that the place is completely sealed. And there is no sign that anything is going to happen today.

“The reason we are doing this, I have always said it, is in the interest of our people, which is the most important thing.

“Well, I don’t think there is anything to worry about. Maybe they are working on the letter. And I expect to hear from them after this hour.”
