UPDATED: Aniocha North PDP Endorses Gov Oborevwori As ‘Sole Candidate’ For 2027

Ahead of 2027 politicking, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State has endorsed Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori as its sole candidate in the 2027 general elections.

The party, also passed a vote of confidence on the governor for his sterling performance, since assumption of office.

Besides, the party also commended the efforts of the immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu in moving the party forward and pledged to work towards his return to the House in 2027.

The confidence vote and endorsement of the Governor came on Wednesday February 5, 2025 during an enlarged meeting of party leaders and stakeholders, hosted by Rt. Hon. Elumelu at his town hall in Onicha-Uku.

Chief Nkem Okwuofu led the delegation, while Dr. Charles Ochei, the party chairman in the area presided over the meeting where the motion for the confidence vote was moved by Chief Dan Okenyi, supported by Hon. Princess Tina Amuamuziam.


Chairman of PDP Ward 8 Idumuje-Uno/Idumuje -Ugboko, Mr. Clement Chiazor seconded the motion as moved by Chief Dan Okenyi, supported by Ogbuefe Nnamdi Mohayam from the same ward and it was unanimously adopted when put to vote by the Leader of the Legislative Arm of the Local Government, Hon. Uzor Rafael.

The party applauded Governor Oborevwori’s achievements in less than two years in office particularly his commitment to the MORE Agenda, which has brought significant infrastructural, economic empowerment, human capital development and growth to Aniocha North.

Speaking at the event, Elumelu emphasized that Aniocha North remains a stronghold of the PDP contrary to social media speculations and assured that the Local Government area will continue to support Governor Oborevwori, former State Governor Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and the party.

Leader of the delegation, Chief Nkem Okwuofu urged party members to build integrity and remain loyal assuring that the area will continue to enjoy the dividends of Governor Oborevwori administration. He also assured that arrangements are underway for more political appointments for deserving party members and citizens of the area.

Others who spoke included the Chairman of the Party in the area; Dr Charles Ochei, former Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon Chief Kress Njiokwuemeni, the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Emma Bazim Chinye, State Commissioner for Special Duties, Government House, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, State Commissioner for Science and Technology; Dr Daniel Odinigwe Odigie, State Chief Job and Wealth Creation Officer; Comrade Ifeanyi Egwunyenga, two times Chairman of the Party in the area; Ogbuefe Nnamdi Mohayam, former Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon Chief Cal Nwawolo and Chief Dan Okenyi among others.

The leaders took time to commend the laudable efforts of the Governor in moving the State forward through his MORE Agenda and highlighted the need for the Local Government Area to continue to give their best to the Governor and the Party.

Also at the meeting were, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, Engr. Fidel Onwodi, immediate past Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Kiven Okwechime, incumbent Vice Chairman, Hon. Nneka Dibia, former vice Chairmen of the Local Government, Hon. Afam Anyasi and Hon. Toby Ukwamedua, Vice Chairman of the Party in the area, Chief Ayo Momah and other members of Executive as well as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, Hon. Peter Okolie, Chairman Aniocha North Women in Politics; Mrs Dorothy Udeh, Youth Leader PDP Aniocha North; Mr Ibe Eboha and Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Kennedy Okoh amongst others.

All ward Chairmen, members of their executives as well as Councillors of the Local Government were present at the meeting.
