For Aniagwu, It’s The Return Of The Native Son From “Sabbatical”

Aniagwu

From Barry Agbanigbi

While he was away on “sabbatical” at the Ministry of Works as Commissioner in charge of Rural Roads, Mr. Charles Aniagwu’s image loomed large in the Information Ministry because of his five star performance during his time as Delta State Commissioner for Information under immediate past Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Recently redeployed to the Ministry of Information, Mr. Aniagwu for sure, carved a niche for himself during his first coming as commissioner in the Ministry of Information.

The redeployment of the seasoned journalist by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to his old ministry as commissioner could be traced to the old adage which holds that one good turn, deserves another.

Mr. Aniagwu is humble, intelligent, industrious and well focused. His sterling qualities include kindness, generosity, compassionate spirit and diligence.

A good grassroots mobilizer, his oratory skills could have also helped him to awaken the state to the significance of his leadership style.

All agreed that Mr. Aniagwu made a big mark during his time as Delta State Commissioner for Information under immediate past Governor Ifeanyi Okowa between 2015 and 2023.

His resounding success may have been attributed to his passion for perfection, excellence and keeping faith with his professional ethics but more than anything else, his abilities as the former image maker of the Big Heart State could be traceable to the unflinching support from the press and the entire workforce of the information ministry, whose goodwill and encouragement turbo charged him.

The hassles, the mental and physical exertion in the journalism profession are so overwhelming that sometimes journalists have to cool off a bit to refresh. Cool off he actually did at the Works ministry, before heading back to home base.

Going by his carriage at his maiden press briefing, there is no doubt that Commissioner Aniagwu is delighted that he has returned to a familiar turf he knows like the back of his hand, refreshed and re-energized, ready to serve the state better with improved relationship, particularly with the press, his primary constituency.

To whom much is given, much is equally expected from, so they say. In his second coming, the commissioner is therefore duty bound to reciprocate the media adequately as he returns home to the Information Ministry.
