Recall: How Okolie’s Advisors Exposed Him As A ‘Failure’- Aniocha/Oshimili Stakeholders

Hon. Ngozi Lawrence Okolie

The group, ‘Concerned Citizens of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency’ pushing for the recall of Hon. Ngozi Okolie, member representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, has explained how the lawmaker’s ineptitude and failures were exposed by his advisors.

The group, in a statement on Tuesday, signed by Dr. Tony Curtis, Chairman, and Austin Madu, Secretary, stated that it has have received the statement credited to Mr. Osita Biose, an advisor to the lawmaker, wherein he admitted that Hon. Okolie is inexperienced and not able to grapple with “the intricacies of legislative politics; a position which further supports the on-going process to recall him from the National Assembly.

According to the group, “Mr. Biose’s position came on the heels of a release by Mr. Isaac Okoh, the Chairman of Hon. Okolie’s think tank team who also confessed to his failure to attract or execute any meaningful project for the wellbeing of the people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency since his assumed seat at the House of Representatives; necessitating the well-received resolve for his recall.

The statement further reads; “We call the attention of the people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency to Mr. Biose’s confession that Hon Okolie has no skills in the “complexities of lawmaking” and has failed to build the required “relationship for effective representation” in the House of Representatives, to the detriment of the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency.

“More revealing is the release by Mr. Okoh which exposed how Hon. Okolie disdained, disconnected and distanced himself from direct contact with the constituents, refused to directly consult the people and instituted an obnoxious system of indirect representation in total disregard to the tenets of representative democracy, resulting to a total neglect for the needs and wellbeing of the people.

“Hon. Okolie insensitivity and indifference towards the people is responsible for his failure to hold town hall meeting and other community-based interactive sessions with his constituents as being done by other legislators.

“Of course, he cannot, having not emerged from or been in touch with the people. The situation is worsened by Mr. Okoh’s further revelation that none of Hon. Okolie’s constituency offices is functional. What a representative!

“0Also, contrary to the claims by Hon. Okolie Press Unit, Mr. Okoh further confirmed that no project in the project priority list submitted by the communities to Hon. Okolie saw the light of the day in the federal budget; thanks to his gross incompetence, ineptitude and total lack of commitment and dedication to our people.

“It is reported that all request to Hon. Okolie by his Think-tank group to avail it with list of projects that made it into the budget was not responded to.

“It is indeed instructive for the public to note that up till now Hon. Okolie has not directly refuted the report that the performance claims being bandied by his Press Units are mostly unsubstantiated assertions and appropriating of credit to programmes and interventions executed by other entities. Instead he has recourse the threats and blackmail which make his matter a case of monumental leadership failure and pathetic legislative disappointment.

“Moreover, Hon. Okolie is yet to come clean on allegations in the public space of him reportedly being bailed on various occasions from certain Police Stations. He has not also responded to the alleged connection with a gambling center in a hotel in Port Harcourt, where resources belonging to the people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency are recklessly squandered.

“In any case, the admission by Messers Biose and Okoh of Hon. Okolie incompetence and disregard for the people only strengthen the resolve by his deprived constituents to recall him from the National Assembly and there is no going back.

“The Concerned citizens of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency insists that Hon. Okolie hopelessly inept, has shown that he is not in any way fit to represent our people in the House of Representatives and we cannot continue to bear the retrogression and embarrassment that Hon. Okolie has come to represent in our Federal Constituency.

“We have made up our minds on the recall, we have solidarity of even Hon Okolie hitherto supporters, we have started gathering signatures and no amount of calls, threats, blackmail, phony entreaties will make the people change their mind on Hon. Okolie’s recall.

“On his own part, Hon. Okolie should end his unnecessary showboating and get ready to give account of all the funds that have been released to him as Constituency Allowance since he took seat to represent our people in the House of Representatives”.
