Isoko South Boss Calls On Irri Sons, Daughters To Rally Around New Odio-logbo, Preaches Peace, Unity

Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta state, Hon. Comrade Friday Ovoke Warri, has called on all sons and daughters of Irri Kingdom to embrace peace and unity and form a formidable team in advancement f the kingdom.

Warri who made the call on Wednesday during the presentation of staff of office to the Odio-logbo of Irri Kingdom, HRM Simon Wajutome Odhomo (Igbogidi 1) by the state governor, ably represented by his deputy, Monday Onyeme, emphasised the vital role of monarchs in fostering peace, security, and harmonious coexistence within communities.

The chairman, emphasised the importance of unity and collaboration in advancing the kingdom and called on all sons and daughters of Irri, both at home and in the diaspora, to contribute their support and commitment towards the development and progress of Irri Kingdom.

According to the council chairman, Ogbogidi 1, the Odio-Ologbo of Irri Kingdom, will provide invaluable wisdom and royal counsel to promote and sustain peace and security in Isoko South communities.

“Today, Irri Kingdom enters a new era with the ascension of His Royal Majesty, the Odio-Ologbo of Irri, to the ancestral throne, and I extend sincere congratulations. The vital role of traditional rulers in fostering peace, security, and community cohesion cannot be overstated, given their position as custodians of cultural heritage.

“It is therefore heartening that His Royal Majesty, the Odio-Ologbo, will be a veritable source of wisdom and royal counsel that we need in our corporate resolve to promote and sustain in our communities. Which is a requisite condition for economic and social-political development of our land” he added.

Earlier during the presentation of the staff of office to Odio-logbo of Irri Kingdom, HRM Simon Wajutome Odhomo (Igbogidi 1) by the state governor, Sheriff Oborevwori and ably represented by his deputy, Monday Onyeme, acknowledged the significance of royal fathers as intermediaries between the government and local communities and reiterated the state government’s unwavering support for traditional institutions.

The governor however charged the monarch to leverage on his position to promote peace and stability as well as carrying along of his subjects and involvement in government initiatives.

The event witnessed the massive turnout of residents, indigenes especially youths, elders, children, vigilante groups, transporters, and various well-wishers as streets were filled with joyful chants of “IGBOGIDI 1” while the people expressed their excitement and admiration for their new monarch.

The procession highlighted the deep sense of cultural pride and reverence the kingdom holds for its traditional institution.

In a display of spiritual unity, Christians and clerics, alongside traditionalists, offered prayers for his reign, invoking blessings and prosperity for the entire Irri kingdom.
