Delta Council Boss Wades Into Olomoro Leadership Crisis, Reads Riot Act To Warring Parties

Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta state, Comrade Friday Ovoke Warri has read the riot act to the Olomoro people, charging the community leadership to be aware of the law and shealth their swords.

Warri gave the warning, on Monday, when he invited the community’s monarch, key stakeholders, community leaders, youth leaders, women leaders, and security agencies to a peace parley meeting at Otobo Hall, Oleh, headquarters of the council to address the lingering leadership crisis bedeviling the community.
Riot act

The council chairman intervened in the crisis following a purported removal of Lucky Ejor as the president general of the community by the Odio-ologbo, without adherence to the due process stipulated in the community’s constitution.

According to the council boss, “As of today, Lucky Ejor remains the president general of the Olomoro community, beyond the community’s constitution, the Delta State regulatory law on community does not recognise a caretaker committee with respect to community leadership.”

Speaking during the meeting, the Ovie of Emede kingdom, Johnson Ewhiri II, stated that he has advised his colleague, the Odio-logbo of Olomoro community, to ensure that his subjexts comply with the government position.
Riot act

“We will comply with the government’s position. I have advised my colleague to stop avoiding government because government is doing everything possible to prevent community crises”, he added.

Also speaking at the meeting, leaders of the community noted that no matter the circumstances, Lucky Ejor is their president and that the proper procedure for removing the president general must be followed as outlined in their constitution.

The Oletu, Idios and women leaders declared that they all resolved to follow the due process as stated in the community constitution, should the issue of removal of a leader arises.

In attendance at the peace meeting were the Secretary to the Isoko South Local Government, the Divisional Police Officer of Oleh, the State Security Service representative, the Ovie of Aviara Kingdom, Ovie of Emede kingdom and the Isoko Development Union (IDU) representatives, among others.
