The senator representing Abia north, Orji Kalu, has said that President Bola Tinubu is not a president that is locked in a hole who does not know what is going on.

Kalu, who spoke in a Channels Television interview on Thursday, said that President Tinubu knows that Nigerians are experiencing economic hardship.

He said that to feel the people’s pulse, President Tinubu moves around Abuja, the nation’s capital, despite his status or scourge of kidnappings or not.

According to the senator who earns N14 million monthly as a senator, consisting of his salary and overhead expenses, the current economic hardship in the country is not peculiar to Nigeria alone.

He believes many nations are still battling the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, noting that developed countries are faring better because they have developed a robust economy.

His words; “Let me be honest; I know things have not been the way they are supposed to be. The economy has not been so friendly.

“This economic problem is going on almost everywhere in the world.

“They (Tinubu’s government) are trying to reform the economy and bring it to where it is supposed to be, but it is bringing hardship to our people.

“The president knows that Nigerians are suffering and hungry. He is a street person. He knows the street very well.

“Some nights, he used his car to go out in Abuja to know what was happening.

“He is not a president that is locked in a hole. He is not a president who does not know what is going on.

“The president goes around the city. Whether there are kidnappings or not, he goes around with one or two cars.”
