Police Arrest Three For Alleged Gun Running In Delta

The Delta State Police Command, has arrested three persons – Tega Dierunaba, Chibiuke Anuforo Cosmas, and Sunday Moses Pam for allegedly manufacturing and supplying guns to armed robbers and kidnappers in the state.

The arrests followed an intelligence-led investigation resulting from an earlier recovery of a fabricated AK-47 rifle in June 8.

SP Edafe Bright, Police Public Relations Officer in the state who confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday, said that the police team led by ASP Julius Robinson acting on the firm directive of the commissioner of Police Delta State CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, on Tuesday July 16, arrested the suspects.

He mentioned the trio arrested to include; Tega Dierunaba ‘m” 44yrs of Ororokpe Community in Okpe LGA Delta State a resident of Enehren area of Warri Town, Chibiuke Anuforo Cosmas m” 42yrs of Orlu Town in Nkwerre LGA Imo State a resident of Musheshe Cold-Room Industrial Area, Enehren Road Warri, a distributor of arms supplied and Sunday Moses Pam m” 36yrs of Von Community in Jos South LGA Plateau State a resident of Oka Closed Street, in Enehren Warri Delta State who usually conceal and convey the arms from Plateau State to Delta State”.

Edafe said that all suspects have admitted to the crime as confessed earlier by 38 year old Goodluck Sakutu of Ekpan Community, Uvwie LGA Delta State who was earlier arrested in possession of one fabricated AK-47 rifle.

He said that the suspects are in custody while investigation is ongoing.

Edafe said that the police commissioner, Olufemi Abaniwonda, had encouraged the public to provide timely information to help fight crime, assuring them of confidentiality and justice.
