A Serving Governor from the South South region has been reportedly fingered of protecting the suspected militant leader being accused of been the masterminds of the murdered of 17 officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army, in Okuama, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta state, last week Thursday.

BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reports that the accused militant leader, Endurance Okodeh, alias Amangben. Whose name is been touted as brain behind the bloody attack, hails from Igbomotoru community, in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa state.

The Warlord who is said to have link with the said governor is maternally from Okuama community, an Urhobo enclave in Delta state where the killings took place.

It was gathered that Amangben became the prime suspect after military intelligence narrowed its investigation on him following his notoriety in the Bayelsa state waterways.

Multiple sources revealed on Tuesday that already Defence Headquarters (DHQ) is currently probing the purported link between the governor and the militant leader after report claimed that there is a cold war between two former governors of an oil rich state in the region over the seething attack on soldiers.

This is coming as report say security agencies are working on an intelligence that Amangben was being protected by the governor in Government House from possible arrest.

Amangben is well known as an oil bunkerer and widely known as a political ally of the Governor who was recently inaugurated for his second term of office.

One source reveals; “The military authorities have zeroed down on Amangben as the leader of the gang, which murdered 16 officers and soldiers of the 181 Battalion of the Nigerian Army on peace-keeping mission in Okuama, on Thursday.

“Amangben’s mother hailed from Okuama, an Urhobo community in Delta State. Speculations that he has fled to his paternal community in Bayelsa state, apparently informed Sunday’s raid of Igbomotoru community by troops in search of the wanted kingpin”, the source said.

The source hinted that Amangben headed the team of political thugs, who supported and delivered the Governor in the last gubernatorial election in oil rich state.

“To this end, the military authorities are working on the lead that the governor could possibly be the one providing protection for the fleeing militant leader and members of his gang, to evade arrest and justice”.

Recalls that soldiers had on Sunday raided raid Igbomotoru community, a place initially suspected to be harbouring Amangben and his fleeing boys.

“Since the MIlitary has come to the conclusion that Endurance Okodeh, alias Amangben, led his group to kill the soldiers, the best place to look for him is the Government House.”

“Amangben’s benefactor, Governor… might have provided the Government House for him to hibernate in order to evade arrest by the troops searching for him.”

“The Governor may consider the current travails of Amangben as affording him the best opportunity to help the boy who has been there for him in his political journey. Amangben has backed the governor in all his political career.”

“Amangben in particular played pivotal roles in the re-election of the Governor in the last gubernatorial election by heading the private security squad, which reigned terrors on the opposition elements, killing and maiming them in desperation to ensure the governor wins at all costs.”
