The Bola Tinubu-led administration has initiated measures to hinder former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s potential bid for the 2027 general election.

Following Atiku’s loss to Tinubu in the 2023 Presidential Election, negotiations are underway between the Presidency and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to prevent their alliance. Additionally, the Presidency plans to rally PDP Governors Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed against Atiku, with the aim of encouraging them to seek the PDP ticket.

Atiku, a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 Presidential Election lost to Tinubu in questionable circumstances, chief of which was the failure by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to comply substantially with the Electoral Act 2022 regarding the transmission of votes in real time to a central viewing portal.

The Turakin Adamawa went the whole distance to the Supreme Court to challenge the result of the election, which was resolved in favour of the former Lagos State Governor.

Findings by our correspondent revealed that secret negotiations between the Presidency and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso are ongoing to prevent the latter from teaming up with Atiku in 2027.

Recall that Atiku had shortly after the Supreme Court judgment called for a coalition of opposition parties to stop the All Progressives Congress (APC) from perpetuating itself in power beyond 2027.

Pointblank News gathered that the Presidency has resolved to rally PDP Governors against Atiku, using Governors Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed of Oyo and Bauchi States respectively.

The Presidency, this medium gathered, encourage the duo of Makinde and Bala to seek the PDP ticket, thus pitching them against the former Vice President.

Part of the plot to stop Atiku is the use of the current Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike to lure Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang to APC, having earlier boasted that he financed the election of the governor.

A source who does not want his name in print told our correspondent that Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal has been identified as the face of the anti- Atiku group. He is to work to realize this objective with a committee to be headed by former Governor of the State, Senator Sani Yerima. Yerima is specifically tasked with the mandate of luring Lawal to the APC.

Similarly, loyalists of Atiku, Sule Lamido and Babangida Aliyu will reportedly be picked up by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission whittle down their support for the former Vice President in 2027.

According to one Ibrahim Masari, Gov Lawal and his Kano State counterpart, Yusuf Kabir Bichi are being targeted to do the PDP for the APC.

Meanwhile, the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State is likely to consume the Governor, Siminalaiye Fubara as the impeachment plot against him is far from over.

In a related development, there is an ongoing  war between President Tinubu and Vice President, Kashim Shettima. The President was said to have warned Shettima to stop wishing him dead, warning him that he (Vice President) will depart the face of the earth before him. This,  findings reveal, is embolding Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President to oppose whatever the former Borno State Governor stands for.
