Private Jet Carrying VIPs Crash-Lands In Ibadan, No Casualties Reported
A private jet carrying about 10 individuals, including Very Important Personalities (VIPs), has reportedly crash-landed in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
The incident occurred at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport around 11 am on Friday.
The private jet, registered as N580KR, veered off the runway and ended up in a nearby bush.
Sources said, “prompt action was taken as firefighters and rescue officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) swiftly responded to the scene.
“Thankfully, there were no fatalities or injuries reported”, the source said.
According to Carol Adekotujo, a spokesperson for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the private plane had safely landed but overshot the runway.
Tunji Oketunmbi, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, is expected to provide further details.
This incident adds to the growing concern over the frequency of aviation incidents in recent months, despite changes in leadership within aviation agencies.
In November, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, narrowly escaped death when a plane he was aboard also crash-landed at the same airport.
